This is the first reminder- please remember to check out your student's missing work and grades on Thinkwave. You should have received information about how to access your student's account. if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at k.johnson@gaardechristian.com . 

Grades have been updated as of this morning, and are current through Friday's assignments. My hope is to update frequently, but I am committing to be current on Mondays at the very least.

Hi all!

Quick reminders:

• Field day is FRIDAY! If you are available to drive, please let me know or tell Brooke in the office- we need people willing to take kids there (to Cook Park) and back.
• Next Wednesday is Awards Chapel- we would love for you to join us to celebrate the many achievements of our talented kids!
• We will be taking the kids to Red Robin next Thursday afternoon as a final trip together, and as a thank you from Gaarde staff to middle school for their help in the many service projects around campus.
• A week from Friday (June 8th) is the last day of school, and CARNIVAL day. We still need parent volunteers for this- thank you for all those who have been willing and continue to volunteer themselves for projects such as these!

Hey all! Happy Friday!

First of all- a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the middle schoolers for winning COLOR WARS! We sported blue in some crazy ways, and our dedication and creativity brought the Spirit Poster back to its rightful place in our window.

Secondly, book orders went home today, and they're the LAST ones of the year. With it, we have a middle school reading list that I compiled based on our book order and what the class has been reading thus far. They're simply suggestions for ordering and keeping yourself sharp over summer! Enjoy! Orders are due NEXT Friday, May 4th.

Hi all! We hope you're looking forward to a wonderful weekend!

As most of you know, next week is our Terra Nova Achievement Testing in the classroom, so from my class, we will have no FORMAL classtime. Students will be testing in Mrs. Sahli's and my classroom throughout the morning, and after lunch will have loosely structured time- some with Mrs. Sahli, some with me.

This means that, while students will be having classtime to work on projects, there will be no homework for any individual day- students' homework is working on their projects. This post is making a list of those assignments to be working on throughout the weekend and week to come. There will be NO blog posts next week (that I can foresee).

Happy Pi Day!

First of all, thank you to everyone who could make it for chapel- the kids did a wonderful job and engaged the rest of the school, teaching them about choosing the right path. Thank you for all of your work helping to prepare you student for our LAST chapel of the year.

Secondly, Emily and her mother brought to my attention the Summer Teen Program that takes place through PCC. It's for students 12-17 (though I'm sure 11 year olds can inquire), and there are a GREAT variety of classes available, from Science, to Test Prep, to Sports! Spots for these classes fill up quickly, so check it out at pcc.edu/community/teen for more info.

Happy February! We hope you have had a wonderful beginning to the new month.

Announcement:

We will be doing a secret St. swap for our Valentine's Day party. Students will be picking a secret pal today and they will be bringing them a gift on Valentine's Day. They will be getting information on their secret pal and will pick a gift that suits them. These may be handmade or store-bought. Students should bring these gifts ON Valentine's Day to either Mrs. Sahli or myself in a PAPER BAG, and at lunch we will set them out so everyone can see them when they first come in. These should be decorated with the name of the person receiving it.

Students may give their Secret St. notes of encouragement leading up to Valentine's Day, but this needs to be a SECRET! Please help your student cme up with inventive ways to bless their classmate!

Students are also asked to bring in Valentines for everyone in their class- these do not need to be a secret. If participation in any of this will be difficult, please email me at k.johnson@gaardechristian.com .

• THIS WEEK, after our test, we will begin our history Independence Simulation. I have asked that people bring in t-shirts that can be colored on (to represent their role). These were supposed to be in last week, but we only have 4. Please make sure your student has brought his/hers in or you have emailed me at k.johnson@gaardechristian.com so I can make other arrangements. These shirts are only a few dollars at JoAnn or Michael's (especially with a coupon!) and need to be comfortable for them to slip on and off over their clothes. Red shirts are: Faithe, Shayden, Hannah, Maddy, and Steven. Blue shirts are Elizabeth, Deborah, Zane, Payton, and Emily. White shirts are Brian, Tyler, Jeremy, and Josh. Thanks for your help!
• CHAPEL! Our performance is this Wednesday and we're performing about loving your enemies. We would love it if you could attend, appx 8:45 am.

Your student has been given a note about a history simulation that we will be beginning in a few weeks. Please read this note and see what color shirt your child has been assigned. Hey all! We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

First of all, I'm a little late in announcing this, but we would like to welcome our new 7th grader, Josh Linder, to the Gaarde middle school family! He's a wonderful addition to a great group.

Secondly, a few small announcements and reminders:

• I (Mrs. Johnson) will be gone next week. Tu, W, F, our substitute will be Mrs. Carter, and Th is will be Mrs. Jones. I will do my best to do one massive blog post with the whole week's homework before I go, but this won't cover all of Mrs. Sahli's homework. There will be no blog posts during the week. Sorry for the inconvenience.
• BOOK ORDERS are due tomorrow! This is a great way to keep a pulse on what other middle school students are reading, get books cheaply, and support our classroom!
