HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

We hope this is a day when you get to celebrate the love in your life. Thank you to everyone that helped their children think of ways to bless their classmates- it was a wonderful success! We had many creative, incisive gifts that showed how close-knit the students are. We also loved the gifts people brought to Mrs. Sahli and myself- they were so thoughtful! We appreciate the relationships you've fostered in them to teach them this love, and for helping them show it today!

Reminders:

• BOX TOPS! The students are collecting Box Tops for Education, and we want to collect more than the other classes, so please pull as many as possible! Thank you to everyone that has scoured their pantry so far. We're setting a goal for ourselves to try and earn a Bunco party, so there's even more incentive to help our school!
• VALENTINE'S DAY- Tuesday! Please help your student make/ purchase valentines for each classmate and the special gift for their Secret St. We've been really excited and encouraged to see the creativity and love so far!

Hey all! We hope you had a great weekend!

• First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to EMILY DAY for her impressive performance at the district spelling bee! She placed 2nd among 6th graders, moving on to the qualifying round with 5-8th graders, where she placed 3rd! This qualified her for Regionals in Washington!
• Secondly, please remind your student to be thinking about a gift for their Secret Saint for Valentine's Day!
• Thirdly, book orders were due today but we have extended the due date to tomorrow. Please bring those in!
• BOX TOPS CHALLENGE: We are competing against the other classes to bring in the most Box Tops for Education- please cut those out and bring them in by Friday, Feb 17th! Thank you!!!

Happy February! We hope you have had a wonderful beginning to the new month.

Announcement:

We will be doing a secret St. swap for our Valentine's Day party. Students will be picking a secret pal today and they will be bringing them a gift on Valentine's Day. They will be getting information on their secret pal and will pick a gift that suits them. These may be handmade or store-bought. Students should bring these gifts ON Valentine's Day to either Mrs. Sahli or myself in a PAPER BAG, and at lunch we will set them out so everyone can see them when they first come in. These should be decorated with the name of the person receiving it.

Students may give their Secret St. notes of encouragement leading up to Valentine's Day, but this needs to be a SECRET! Please help your student cme up with inventive ways to bless their classmate!

Students are also asked to bring in Valentines for everyone in their class- these do not need to be a secret. If participation in any of this will be difficult, please email me at k.johnson@gaardechristian.com .
