Friday, 9/30/11

Hey all!

We hope you had a wonderful time at the Walk-a-thon today! We had such a fantastic time watching so many middle-schoolers make it to the 50 Lap Club. Those that didn't also performed spectacularly- we have a lot to be proud of!

We have no homework this weekend- enjoy!

Blessings!

Tuesday, 9/27/11

Hey there!

Quick reminders-

* Chapel is tomorrow morning at 8:45! Middle school will be discussing fruits of the Spirit and we would love to see you there!

* The Compassion Clinic is October 8th at Tigard High School- we desperately need more volunteers! Please consider helping serve those in our community through this event. For more info, please visit compassiontigard.com or shoot me an email. I would love to get more Gaarde students participating. Also, it counts towards community service, so if you know any high schoolers that need CS hours for a class, this is a great way! All team leaders are prepared to sign off for their participation. Additionally, if you know families that would benefit from receiving care at this event, PLEASE let them know! I have extra flyers if you need them!

*Walk-a-thon is Friday- please make sure you turn in pledge sheets and get your kids excited about it! It's a great event for the school in so many ways.

Thursday, 9/22/11

Hey everyone!

A couple of notes:

Walk-a-thon information went home today. The walk-a-thon is next Friday, September 30th. We are so excited for your kids to be a part of this fundraiser, and look forward to seeing how much we can earn for our school!

Middle School Chapel is next Wednesday, September 28th. Three times a year, it will be middle school's turn to perform for the school and lead their fellow students in a fun illustration of biblical concepts. This time, we are talking about the fruits of the spirit, and everyone has been assigned to a fruit of the spirit to illustrate Galations 5: 22-23. If you would like to attend, chapel begins at 8:45. We hope to see you there!

I told students yesterday about an event I (Mrs. Johnson) am participating in called the Compassion Clinic. It's an event on Saturday, October 8th that's one day of free health care (and other services) for the under-insured and impoverished in the area. I sent home flyers, but you can find more information, including volunteer signups, at www.compassiontigard.com . I will be in the children's area (we provide free childcare for those at the clinic), and we would love participation from youth in the area. If you would like to serve alongside your kids, the Children's area is a great place to do that! If you know of any dentists, doctors, or other healthcare professionals, this is a huge need- the more doctors we can get to volunteer our time, the more people we can show Christ to through this service! We also need barbers/ haircutting professionals- in the Social Services fair, we provide free haircuts for those waiting for their appointments, and the more, the merrier! Lunch is served, and volunteers are asked to arrive at 7:30 am. The clinic shuts down around 3pm. Thanks SO MUCH for your consideration in this!
